Training and Approach

My therapeutic approach

My therapeutic approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which serves as the overarching framework for my work with clients. ACT is a transdiagnostic, evidence-based approach that helps individuals make space for the full range of emotional experiences—pleasant or painful—while committing to actions that align with their core values. With the goal of building more psychological flexibility, ACT provides a universal framework that can be integrated with elements of other treatments to support meaningful, values-driven living across a wide variety of challenges.

education and training

I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Miami, where I was trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a treatment approach I continue to value deeply. My clinical training took place in settings as varied as a university-based psychological services center, a state psychiatric hospital, and a community mental health clinic—each offering a unique lens into people’s lived experiences. I completed my internship at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) on the Cognitive Behavioral Scientist Track, which allowed me to further refine my clinical approach. I then stayed on at MGH for a postdoctoral fellowship at the Bipolar Clinic and Research Program, where I researched adaptations of mindfulness-based and dialectical behavior therapies to better meet the needs of people with bipolar disorder.

professional experience

Before starting my private practice, I served as a staff psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School. At MGH, I contributed to several collaborative care teams, including urgent care, primary care, and DBT consultation services. My clinical work involved diagnostic assessment and treatment planning, individual and group therapy, and the opportunity to support the next generation of clinicians through training and supervision of psychiatry residents and psychology interns. These experiences deepened my appreciation for integrative, team-based care and reinforced my commitment to thoughtful, person-centered treatment.

private practice

I joined Needham Psychotherapy Associates in 2016 and moved into full-time private practice the following year. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals navigating a wide range of challenges—including depression and bipolar disorder, various types of anxiety, relationship and marital concerns, life transitions, and the complexities of emerging adulthood. I also work with family members who are supporting loved ones with bipolar disorder, and I offer individual DBT skills training in a one-on-one, supportive setting. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, collaboration, and a belief in each person’s capacity for growth and change.
